"New Chemo = No Hawaii"

Today Tony and I decided a trip to Hawaii would not be the smartest thing for me during this phase of my journey.  I have chemo scheduled for the next three weeks and the drug that my doctor is giving without insurance approval would be scheduled the week we were to be gone.  We feel this is the wisest decision for now and we have no idea how this new chemo will effect my body.  Chemo and being in the sun do not equal smart decisions.  How can you go to Hawaii and not be out in the sun?  We will have a more joyous reason to celebrate once this enemy is defeated!

Tony did some research about MD Anderson and there was a place to submit a second opinion question on-line.  We filled out all the information and should hear back from them by Tuesday.  We are seeking guidance and wisdom on this journey and trusting that the Lord will direct our steps in every area of our lives.  Psalms 25:4-5 "Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.  Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long."

We received an email back from MD Anderson with a confirmation number attached and at the end of the numbers was LCY.  Might not mean much to others, but Tony calls me Lucy and we thought it was maybe a confirmation from the Lord  that we did what we were supposed to do.

I am thankful to have had peace about everything these last few days and I know many have lifted me and my family up in your prayers.  God's grace is sustaining us and we will continue to trust and wait upon Him.

Psalms 27:13-14 "I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord, in the land of the living!  Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

"Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."

  4. Oh, I'm thrilled about your research into MD Anderson. That is where many of my friends have gone and rave about the facility. I pray that they can lead you one step further to the restoration of your health. What a trooper you are and prayers from North Louisiana continue for you and your family. May the Lord bless you in a special way this Sunday.

  6. Looking after your health comes first. That was a wise decision. May all the continued efforts by the doctors be blessed by God in a mighty way. Praying for you and wishing you a good week.
    I love the Lord, His strength is mine;
    He is my God, I tust His grace;
    My fortress high, my shield divine,
    My Saviour and my hiding place.

  8. I found your blog through Kelly's Korner and I have been a long time reader but haven't left a comment until now. I just want to let you know what a picture of God's grace and faith you shine through your blog. God has given you this platform and the words to give faith and hope to others. I know it must be disappointing to have to postpone Hawaii. But, as we all know God's timing is perfect and now is just not the right time for Hawaii. I can only think and pray that it is because the Avastin is going to destroy your tumor and that week is when you need it. I will continue to pray for you and for God's healing hand to be on your body.

  9. The Lord uses MD Anderson in a mighty way - ultimately He heals, but that place is amazing. My mom was treated there in 2006/7, and has been going back for 6 years for check ups/scans. They went about 2 weeks ago. She would be more than happy to talk to you about MD Anderson. They stay at the Rotary house each time, it's attached to the hospital. We live in NC. She's 62 and had stage 4 lymphoma at 54. Email me if you'd like her contact info - sarahgbryant@nc.rr.com. She could be a cheerleader/salesperson for MD Anderson. Praying for you, even though we've never met you, but know we will one day! I found you through Kelly.
    I LOVE the Psalm scripture you put on today's post too - just finished studying them in my Bible study.
    Praying for healing!
